Artist's Comments

It's REALLY brief so it's more like a walkthrough than a tutorial but I'm hoping it can help some people with their technique ^^;. This is only for those who want to paint in the style I used for this deviation.

More tutorials on the way for some of my other styles and hopefully a tips sheet too :D

Good job, this a great tutorial for people who know watercolor and for beginners alike.

What kinds of watercolor are you using, because I don't have a pink color, I have more reds and blues than pink.

Usually I don't like it when my paper warps, so I have the habit of taping it down with masking tape.

Hello, so sorry for replying so late (I'm finally finishing uni for the year haha!)

I don't really use very high quality watercolours because I only paint images for reproduction [and light fastness isn't needed]. I use a store-own-brand of watercolours, WHSmith to be exact. They're not artist quality but work very well for me since it's cheap! It's quite hard to find a true pink colour but what you might want to do is search for a cool-toned red colour like crimson and dilute it with LOADS of water to achieve the light pink shade :)

I'm sorry it's probably not very helpful advice! ^^;

p.s. I use heavier paper to prevent warping or I soak it first and stretch it on a drawing board first :)

The watercolors I use are a mix, I have some reeves, and a little left over from my watercolor class. Both colors are very good, and I'm on the search for a compatable light red, and using water to dilute colors is something I use a lot (especially when regarding ink, but even then that's a hit and miss).

It's very helpful actually, thanks.

I usually use hot and cold press, not neccesarily heavy paper, but even then I need to be careful about warping.
